How We Will Educate Your child?
-
Small Student Groups
We will assess each child to determine their learning style (how they take in information), assess their multiple intelligence (how they process information), and offer each child small group instruction. Pathway to Leadership promote programming and strategies that impact student achievement and prepares students for informed choices at the high school. Small student groups offer a more flexible learning curriculum, inspires confidence, feedback is always available to build team working skills, develop stronger communication skills.
-
Advisory Period
Advisory periods will be built into the student’s schedule for the students to meet with teachers to get academic supports.
-
Multiple Intelligences
Multiple intelligences is a theory of how the mind works. Many districts have adopted the theory as they believe all students have “gifts.” Normally, a gifted and talent program will require an IQ score of 130 which eliminates 95% of the population. This screening process relies on those students who are verbal linguistic. One of the most remarkable features of the theory of multiple intelligences is how it provides eight different potential pathways to learning.
-
Small Class Size & Field Trips
With fewer students per class, individuals can connect more closely with their peers and become more confident and comfortable when it comes to sharing their ideas and perspectives. Student learning is enhanced, teachers can teach, more opportunities to participate, focus on learning, etc. Field trips will allow students to see what they are learning and how it is applied in the real world. Students get an opportunity to learn outside of the classroom.
-
Career Introduction & Exploration
Introduction to Academies is the focus for the eighth grade. Each marking period is 10 weeks long and will be devoted to one of the High School academics. The marking periods will cover Applied Science/Law/Public Safety/Technology/Human Development.

Personalized Learning Plans
Personalized learning approaches focus on strengthening the student learning process by encouraging students to actively participate in fostering a strong learning environment, strengthening relationships with adult stakeholders, becoming aware of their individual learning needs, and identifying and applying learning strategies that work best for them. To address those areas:
- Strengthening the student learning process by encouraging students to know their learning preferences
- Multiple Intelligences and Learning styles help the student become aware of how they perceive and process information.
- Career inventories will help the student make an informed career choice.
- Academic pods will provide student support to address social emotional learning
- Advisory period will help students academically.
Students will develop a Personalized Student Learning Plan to help them understand the process of self-regulation. The goal is for them to be self-dependent and not school dependent.

Pandemic Crisis Plan
Many childcare centers, school administrators, teachers and parents within New Jersey are concerned about how the current outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) will impact their communities and wish to take appropriate steps to mitigate any risks. The word “novel” means new. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working hard to learn as much as possible about this new virus so that they can better understand how it spreads and its associated illness. The New Jersey Department of Health is also working hard by developing guidance and education materials should this new virus impact our residents. [Read the Plan]
